The AMCS works strategically, with their supporters across Australia and over the sea, on the big issues facing our oceans.

They work to protect our precious ocean wildlife, create marine national parks and make our fisheries truly sustainable for future generations.

They also work to protect our precious coasts from inappropriate development and to give our oceans the best chance of resilience against human induced climate change.

Make your suggestion and post it so everyone can see.
The most frequent suggestions will be considered for funding the AMCS work.

“Picture a dive scene with no dive shops, or dive schools; in Australia it was difficult to get even a wet-suit. You could import one from the US or Europe at astronomical cost. BCs - never heard of them. The masks and fins, all imported, mostly from Italy or France were made of hard rubber. Imported regs and tanks cost the earth. Australia Day 2012, a morning of 'SIRIUS' Fun.  Local actors Mike Kelaher, Rob Pulcher, Jennifer Pulcher, Bob Clarke and Eric the Clarke got together to re-create the arrival of Captain Arthur Philip. The sea and weather conditions were not so great on the day but everyone had fun all the same. The video was shot using an iPhone. The location of the event - Terrigal Haven, NSW, Australia.

Sydney to Coffs Harbour Yacht Race 2012

The Adelaide dive site became a little crowded this afternoon with several yachts from the Sydney to Coffs race passing through and around the dive location.
It was quite spectacular to see them up close. I am not sure how many were in the fleet but they kept coming by for quite a long time.

Over the TOP expedition

I talked to Peter Phillips at the Sydney International Boat show on the weekend. There determination inspired me to share their story.

The Story
The Honda Over The Top Expedition has been developed by brothers Peter and Phillip Jenkins who have a family history of Prostate Cancer. Both wanted to do something ‘Over The Top’ to generate funds and awareness on the key preventative actions for Prostate Cancer. So they decided to go 'Over The Top' literally… in 8.6 metre rigid inflatable boat (RIB) commonly referred to as a ‘rubber ducky’.
Beginning in Sydney, the Expedition will cover more than 9,500 kilometre stopping at 30 locations along the coast, ending in Perth. Along the Expedition, Peter and Phillip will cover some of Australia’s most untouched, harsh and beautiful coastline particularly in the northern most tips of Queensland, Northern Territory and Western Australia.
At each stop (in the populated areas), Peter and Phillip will have prearranged presentations at Yacht and Boat Clubs to generate awareness and raise funds to help fight this deadly and relatively ‘unknown’ killer of men.
Their mission is to raise $200,000 to continue research into effective Prostate Cancer detection and treatment and to actively educate and raise awareness of the need for men to talk to their GP about Prostate Cancer.
