Jervis Bay & the Rubber Boats Jan 2010
5.30 p.m.
We all had to work on Friday so it was going to be a bit of a dash with Friday night traffic through Sydney. Not something we were looking forward to. Lyn and Neil left mid afternoon with Grant and I leaving at 5.30 p.m. armed with our instructions and secret google maps.
The road trip took us on the M7 and then through Picton, Wollongong and Nowra - not a bad trip. Very scenic around the Kiama area. There is always something about the rolling green hills of the south coast to make you feel like you are on holidays. It was a slow trip towing the rubber boats, as a little trepidation was felt about the trailer towing.
The camp site we had selected was Currarong on the northern side of Jervis Bay. We arrived around 9.00 p.m. with the Vincents already set up in their camp - fed, watered and ready for bed. The Bradly’s opted to put up the trekking tent in order to speed up bedtime and leave the Taj Mahal tent for Saturday. Being the end of the school holidays sleep was something that some other campers weren’t interested in. But with the help of trusty earplugs the rubber boat people managed to catch some shut eye and dream of flat seas and blue water.
What would Saturday bring?
Remember the Vincent factor!!
